Mike was born and raised in San Bernardino. He met his beautiful wife, Cindy, at Pacific High School during his senior year. She was instrumental in Mike coming to faith in Christ before going off to college. God eventually led them to marry and he enrolled at Biola University and later received a Master's degree in Christian Education at Talbot Seminary. Mike taught two years in Christian schools before God called Mike to full-time vocational ministry in local churches for 10 years as a pastor of Christian Education.
Mike moved back to settle in Yucaipa in 1987 where they raised their three children: Tracy, Terah, and Mike W.. He has taught in public school a self-contianed sixth grade, middle school history, high school history, PE, Read 180, and on-line credit recovery. Mike loves sports and has coached high school football, baseball, girl's softball, city basketball. and his son through Little League. Cindy and Mike sent their children to Christian schools by breeding pedigree cocker spaniels. As grandparents, they help support their grandchildren's Christian school education.
God has given Mike a passion for Christian education and Christian school education in particular. He was given the privilege back in 1973 to help start Yucaipa Christian School. It is a special blessing for Mike to retire from public school and assist our principal, Reid Isaac, in giving birth to WCA. It has been a joy to see the spiritual growth of our students, particularly as they practice what they are learning about Christ on the playground. The word of God is truth, and the Holy Spirit in the lives of our teachers is living curriculum before our students.
